Welcome to my Microsoft® Windows® SharePoint™ Services v3 (WSS) demo site. I enjoy showing people how they can improve business process through the use of the Microsoft Office System. This site is an example of how I used WSS as a content management system to publish articles on the various types of content and solutions that can be built on WSS 3.0 and the Office SharePoint Server 2007. Some of the most popular features of this site are:
  • Dynamic site menu to the left. This is built from the contents of a document library that contains web part pages which are assigned to a menu item
  • Extensive use of the Data View Web Part and SharePoint Designer to display information from various data sources including Web Services and XML files like InfoPath, WordML, Virtual Earth and Amazon
  • Lots of Active-X and Silverlight controls that can be seen in the demo's

I will endeavour to write some articles that explain how to achieve these effects using SharePoint Designer 2007 (and Windows SharePoint Services, XML Web Services, XSLT Data Views). I don't expect this site to be helpful to beginners, but you don't have to be a full on programmer to figure this stuff out.
Send any feedback to me, Ian Morrish . I'll update my BLOG as I make progress...

Demo site for NZ SharePoint Community Conference
This is the demo site I built during my presentation on the Data View aka Data Form web part presentation at the New Zealand Community SharePoint Conference.
Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback and the problem with one of the web parts in my demo was that I had select the wrong parameter value in the connection. That's what happens when you try and cram a 75 minute session into 45 minutes...

KB Article
Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package (Sts.msp): May 22, 2009
Issues that this hotfix package fixes:
You use multi-value lookup values in a SharePoint list. In some cases, the documents in the SharePoint list are unpublished. However, the multi-value lookup values in the AllUserDataJunctions table are still present, flagged as the current version and are not marked to be deleted. Therefore, multi-value lookup values become orphans. In this case, if you use the stsadm -o export command, the export phase of the content deployment fails.
Incremental content deployment from a source Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 farm to a target MOSS 2007 farm fails intermittently, with SQL deadlock errors.
