You have got to try out the GroupBoard Workspace

I have installed it on WSSDemo.com but it has some web parts on the home page that require users to be authenticated. This is what the home page looks like...

I have used the v2 template for resource bookings extensively. On upgrading to WSS 3.0 I took advantage of the multi select from lookup list feature to enable multiple resources to be reserved in a single booking but it was hard to catch conflicting resource requirements especially in reoccurring bookings.
It looks like the GroupBoard Workspace will provide a nice solution to this.

This would make a grate replacement for the Company Web template that ships with Small Business Server.

Hi Ian, I started with the Room and Equipment Booking Template and then switched to GroupBoard to enable recurring bookings. However, now I find that I cannot do a lookup of resource by type, like you can in the Room and Equipment Booking template. i.e. Select 'resource type', then the list of resources below narrows down to only include those resources which are in the selected 'resource type'. Do you know if it is possible to add this categorizing functionality to Groupboard?

Hi, The Groupboard workspace is a nice solution but I don't know how easy it would be to change as the source code is not provided. I guess it is inteded for small teams that would not have so many resources for this to be a problem. Checking for conflicts in recurring bookings is the smartest feature in this solution.

Hello Ian, I like the Groupboards but I am still wrestling with the Room and Equipment booking template, not yet ready to give it up. Wondered if you could assist with some 'little' display problems? Specifics are 1) change the booking view from one day to one week, 2) change the date display from mmddyyy to ddmmyyy, and lastly (but most important to our end-users) to order the asset list of Rooms and Equipment by location (new field we added but not visible in current display), OR by asset type (eg Rooms, Equip, Vehicles - all 3 types created but not visible in current display) - ideally we might be able to offer both views but one would suffice.
