I have been working for Microsoft as a presales resource for over 5 years now. While it has been fun telling and showing customers what can be done with our portal and collaboration technologies, I have not worked on architecting a real solution for a while.
So I leave the glamour of sales for the prospect of selling my skills as a consultant. Fortunately, Microsoft has a consulting group so I didn't have to leave the company to continue my passion for all things SharePoint. They provide a ramp up period but the work is already queuing up so I might meet the utilization target in my first month.
I'm hoping that this will allow me to spend more of my personal time on WSSDemo.com as I won't be traveling so much (62 stays in just one hotel, Heritage, in Auckland since joining MS).
